What it is
What QHHT is, as its institutions describe it. QHHT is a hypnosis method developed by Dolores Cannon (1931–2014), a past-life regressionist and author who began exploring past-life regression in 1968, practised full time from the late 1970s, began teaching QHHT in 2002 and launched an online Level…
Format
- The Academy describes a single, in-person, recorded session; no remote sessions are permitted. Phases, paraphrased in outline (no induction wording):
- Interview. Cannon spent at least two hours building trust and learning about the client's life, alone with the client (no partners or friends in the room), and from it the client's list of questions is built (health, family problems, phobias, allergies, life purpose). The Academy says the whole…
Who practises it, and how they are trained or regulated
- Training levels: Level 1 online (about 22.5 hours of video recorded from Cannon's live class, exam; USD 997), Level 2 online (USD 1,333; certification after approved sessions), Level 3 (USD 1,775; requires a year of practice and at least 125 sessions), plus a Level 1 Companion live course. No prior hypnosis or clinical qualification is required. Practitioners are sole proprietors who set their own session fees;…
Evidence status, as the guide reports it
- Core idea of change, in the method's own terms. The "Subconscious" in QHHT is explicitly not the psychologist's unconscious: it is described as a part of the person's consciousness above the conscious mind, also called Higher Self or Oversoul, that knows everything about the client's life and gives…
Questions to explore with your client
- What drew you to it, and what are you hoping it will change?
- Does it involve any substance, plant preparation, remedy or supplement? Has your doctor or prescriber been told, especially about any medication you take?
- Is it a group, retreat or community? How do they respond if someone wants to leave or raises a concern?
- How do you and the practitioner understand what is happening, in spiritual or cultural terms? Is that a source of comfort, worry, or both?
- Does it use a device, heat, cold, water or a physical procedure? Has a medical professional checked that it is safe for you?
- Who runs it, and what training or registration do they hold?
- What actually happens in a session or meeting, and how often?
- What does it cost, and is there pressure to commit to more?
- How do you feel afterwards, in the hours and days that follow?
- Does it fit with, or clash with, the work we do here?
What practitioners of it watch for
- client fear that services will mock their beliefs; prepare referrers. Working: the client attends and continues therapy.
- decisions under acute distress; pressure from a practitioner or partner. Working: the client chooses deliberately with a safety plan.
- debt, secrecy from family, distress when unable to book or listen. Working: fewer sessions and replays, decisions made with own judgement.
- idealisation of the therapist as a spiritual authority; blurred fees. Working: clear roles, client's spiritual choices made outside therapy.
- paid exploitation of bereavement; grief postponed by repeated seeking of contact. Working: client can grieve in ordinary ways while holding their beliefs.
When to involve someone else
- New or worsening physical symptoms, or advice to stop or change prescribed medication: involve the client's doctor or prescriber.
- Signs of coercion, isolation from family and friends, escalating costs or secrecy: discuss openly and consider safeguarding.
- A crisis or thoughts of suicide: follow your crisis protocol. In the US, call or text 988; in the UK and Ireland, Samaritans on 116 123.
